New National Teams Coaches

The NZHF Executive Committee would like to thank everybody who put their name forward to apply for coaching positions.

We are pleased to announce the following appointments:

Pablo Rey
Coach - NZHF Men's National Team

Pablo

Pablo has been involved in New Zealand Handball since 2004 and has greatly contributed to the establishment of the NZHF. Pablo became a kiwi in 2008 and moved his young family to Dunedin and started his own club there. When he is not busy organizing training camps for his national team players, he spends much time with his son Nico, training him up to become New Zealand's future Handball talent. Pablo's Handball background stems from playing school and club Handball in Argentina. At the age of 17 his club, 'Ferro Carril Oeste', was selected to play in the top division  'Liga de Honor'. With 21, Pablo travelled to Europe playing 1 season in Hungary before moving to New Zealand. Here he represented New Zealand as part of the New Zealand Falcons in the 2008 edition of New Caledonia's 'Coupe de Clubs de Champions'.

Pablo can be contacted via email on

Sandy Mamoli & Lars Bock
Co-coaches - NZHF Women's National Team

SandySandy made her NZHF debut at this years Wellington Open Beach Handball Champs. Since then she has become an integral member of the Victoria University Senior Women's team. Sandy's Handball background and career highlights include winning the European Cup with the internationally renowned top Austrian women's Handball league team "Hypo-Niederoesterreich". Sandy played in the Austrian National Team 1986-1992 which culminated in her team being ranked 5th at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Since retiring from professional Handball, Sandy has become a permanent resident in New Zealand, and works in the IT industry, living with her partner in Wellington

LarsLars has accepted the invitation to continue coaching this team after the excellent job he did taking the 2009 NZHF Women's team to recent WC qualifiers in Brisbane. Lars is the sort of Handball player that when he takes to the court he is always an incalculable risk to his opponent with his barrage of ever-astonishing handball skills, an eye for opportunities that many of us can only dream of and a great sportsmanship to match. Lars is a founding member of the NZHF, originally from Germany, since 2003 he lives permanently in New Zealand with his young family. He is also a Science and PE teacher at Scot’s College in Wellington.
