Handball in Queenstown

There is regular Handball training's in Q'town! Every Wednesday, 7-8pm at the Frankton Events centre. All welcome.

queenstownAlso, they are going to host a mini tournament on March 29 so, if you are keen, please email as soon as possible. It's a lot easier to organise a tournament when the organiser knows who CAN and who CANNOT come! So please email your thoughts NOW, even if you are not sure yet!!! If you know you can't mobilise your whole team to Queenstown, perhaps you can go by yourself, and be assured that you will get a great day of Handball out if it. Christchurch and Dunedin teams are already arranging their transport and Queenstown itself has well over a dozen players already. The NZHF has got AirNZ tickets reserved from Auckland for $593 return. That's a bargain to Q'town. If you keen on those tickets, please email asap.

Handball in Stratford

Stratford, where is Stratford? It's about 40min out of New Plymouth, and with help from the NZHF Development Aid, it has just managed to get a Handball league going. Just like that...! Under the guidance of the TET Multisport Centre manager, Grant Best, and with some help of videos and some Balls from the NZHF, Handball is taken off in Stratford. "The inspiration came after seeing Handball at the Beijing Olympics", says Grant, "and the rest was easy, the NZHF was keen to help and the people here were keen to play, what more do you need? We are aiming to send a team to the Wellington tournament in April, to meet the other clubs, and to give our players something to train towards. We are really looking forward to taking this sport to the next level." The NZHF is delighted and encourages many other Recreation Centres around the country to give Handball a go. Good on ya Grant! If you are keen to play in Stratford, or want some more info, please visit the TET Multisport Centre website www.stratfordsport.co.nz.

A new club has found its feet at Waikato University. With the help of the NZHF development project, Waikato Uni has managed to get trainings underway even before the Uni kicks off for 2009. The club organisers are looking forward to Orientation week, when they expect heaps of interest from students. The club is open to anyone, not just Uni students. Thanks to some help from uLeisure Recreation Centre, and the dedication of a handful of keen handball Hamiltonians, the Waikato Uni Handball club is looking forward to an exciting future in the New Zealand Handball scene. Already the club is planning to attend NZHF tournaments around New Zealand, but first there will be some games against the closest rival, Auckland Uni! To join this club and find out about regular trainings, please get in contact with the organisers, via our club info page.
